It wasn't too hard for me to think of what my most treasured childhood possession was. For my very first Christmas, Santa gave me a stuffed pig. This photo was taken on that Christmas morning and I'm (the one with the mohawk) with my brother and sister. I called him Bobby but I think that must have happened a few years later when I was actually able to talk! He was named after Bobby from Young Talent Time and as you can probably guess I was a big fan.
A year later I was still very much attached to Bobby the pig as you can see above. Throughout my childhood I didn't go anywhere without him and on a family holiday he was sadly left behind... After an hour of driving and many, many tears later, my father (who was not known for succumbing to his children's tantrums!) turned the car around and an extra two hours was added to the journey. I couldn't sleep without him by my side and after many years of cuddles he began falling apart but I of course still loved him the same. These days his head is falling off, he has been re-stuffed with stockings, his ribbon is badly frayed and his fur has been worn down, but my mum has promised that one day she will restore him to his former glory. I can't wait!
I've had lots of fun choosing this week's theme so a big thanks to Angela. Head over here to see some more treasured childhood possesions... I know I will be!

What a lovely story. Thank goodness your dad went back to get him!
What a love filled life Bobby has had! With that many bedtime cuddles it's no wonder his had is falling off : )

I mean bobby's head not his 'had'. Opps!

Dear Bobby...glad you are having some restorative plastic surgery soon. Don't lose your head over it
Glad Bobby is still with you Danielle. Lucky woman. ;-)
Love the story about your dad turning back to get Bobby! Thanks for sharing!
Poor old Bobby's heads falling off!! What a cute pig, and what a great Dad, saved him from an uncertain fate! Thanks for the theme!
When I was little I had a thing for the name Bobby... I called a kid I went to elementary school Bobby from grade 2-8, his name was Dave. Strange but true. :)
Thanks for the great choice of theme this week!
I can totally relate!!! Your Bobby and My Pinky sound like they could be great friends. Perhaps they'll meet one day in the reconstructive surgery waiting room.
I'm SO glad your Dad went back for him. My God, I almost burst into tears myself when I read that bit :)
phew. Glad you're still together.
Thanks for the great theme.
I love that your father went back for him - what a sweet story :)
Great story and love the Christmas morning pics. Good choice for the theme this week. Cheers!
What a lovely story - and so nice that your father knew that this was exactly the right time to succumb to a tantrum. Oh, and I gotta say - that mohawk is awesome!!! :P
I don't know what's cuter: the pig or your mohawk! xxxx
really sweet story, and cute mohawk!
Geez, good thing Dad gave in or Bobby would have been lost forever. You must've cried your little heart out. What a great story! It's great that you still have him after all these years.
Oh my how sweeeeeet!!!your wee piglet but that mohawk!!!that is the sweetest of all!xoxo
nice to meet Bobby...what a sweet little piggy.
I was also a young talent team fan and I remember that Bobby :)
Christmas morning snapshots are so funny...as is your mohawk!
Bobby is a treasure. A toy hasn't been truly loved until an ear, eye or whole head is coming asunder. I love the photo of you holding him on the couch - its very cute!
What a cute piggy! I love the photos with their yellow tinge.
Hi,
I also can so totally relate to this :-)
My Bobby is a red bunny and 32 years old. Since it had to be repaired so often it doesnt really look like it had at the time I got him -which was my birth :-)- but still, I love him to pieces, really. Maybe thats also the reason why he already has its 3rd skin :-). Thanks Grandma for healing him everytime!
whenever I`m feeling sad, I just have to hug him and I start to feel a little bit better.
Thanks for sharing this & bringing back so many memories.

I really love your mohawk. My son was born with a mohawk. It was ace.
Love Bobby. My teddy has too had some reconstructive surgery, my mum kindly covered the scars with some embroidery.
